Job Quest Lab is a job hunting assistant for people who want to find roles that fit their experience and prepare better applications. In this policy, “Job Quest Lab”, “we”, “us”, and “our” mean the service operated by Job Quest Lab.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Job Quest Lab, we may collect:

• Account information, such as your email address, name, and the identity provider you use to sign in.
• Profile information, such as your location, contact details, skills, work history, education, job preferences, and work-authorisation information.
• Resume and application information that you upload or ask us to generate, including PDF files and the profile data used to create them.
• Job search information, such as job titles, locations, countries, saved job records, match scores, and external application links.
• Company research information, including the job and public company pages used to create a research summary.
• Subscription and billing information, such as plan status, billing interval, customer identifiers, and payment lifecycle information. Payment card details are handled by the payment provider and are not stored by Job Quest Lab.
• Service activity and technical information, such as feature usage, authentication events, browser information, approximate device information, and logs needed to keep the service secure and reliable.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

• provide, secure, maintain, and improve Job Quest Lab;
• authenticate your account and protect it from misuse;
• match job postings to your saved profile;
• extract, rewrite, or generate resume and application content when you ask us to;
• research public company information and present it alongside a job;
• process subscriptions, billing, refunds, and cancellations;
• measure product performance and understand feature usage; and
• meet legal, security, and fraud prevention obligations.

4. AI and service providers

Job Quest Lab uses service providers to operate the product. Depending on the feature you use, information may be processed by:

• InsForge, for authentication, database services, private file storage, and payment integrations;
• OpenAI, for profile extraction, job matching, research synthesis, and document generation;
• Adzuna, to search public job listings using the job title, location, and country you submit;
• Browserbase, to retrieve public company web pages for research; and
• PostHog, to measure product events and service usage.

We send only the information needed for the requested feature. For example, a job search sends search terms to the job search provider, while your profile and resume may be sent to AI providers when you request matching or document generation. Public job and company information is treated as untrusted content and is used to provide the requested result.

5. Legal bases

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we generally rely on performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and improving a secure service, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where we ask for it. You may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, without affecting processing that already took place lawfully.

6. Storage and retention

We retain information for as long as it is needed to provide the service, keep appropriate business and security records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Retention depends on the type of information and your relationship with us. You can contact us to ask about deletion or to request an explanation of the retention that applies to your information.

Private resumes and profile data are intended to be available only to you through your account. You are responsible for keeping your sign in credentials and connected identity provider account secure.

7. International processing

Our providers may process information in countries outside the United Kingdom. When required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy decisions or approved contractual protections.

8. Your rights and choices

Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict, or provide a copy of your personal information. You may also object to some processing or ask us to stop using information where your rights allow. To make a request, email info@ashahmali.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or another data protection regulator in the place where you live or work.

9. Children

Job Quest Lab is intended for adults seeking employment. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy when the service, providers, or legal requirements change. We will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide a notice in the service.
